It’s the finale for Season 8, the end of our second year making Trashy Divorces, and of course, we’re wrapping up this abysmal year of 2020 with two Heroes of Trash Candy. It’s Trash Panda Idol week! First up, Stacie has the legendary singer Patsy Cline, whose two tumultuous marriages punctuated a life short but breathtakingly large. Country music’s first female superstar and crossover success, Patsy’s death at the age of 30 belied the enormity of her contributions to American culture, including turning the Willie Nelson-written song “Crazy” into a hit. Then, Alicia has that long-ago Crazy songwriter, the iconic Willie Nelson. Willie may have had three divorces and some side romps along the way, but we have yet to encounter a subject who is so at peace with the Trash Candy he’s bequeathed to the world, nor as generous to those he may have hurt along the way.
